Best time to visit Laos
When planning a trip to Laos, it’s important to understand the climate and weather patterns to choose the best time for your visit. Laos experiences two main seasons: the dry season and the rainy season, each with its unique characteristics. This article will provide you with information about the climate and the ideal times to visit Laos, so you can better prepare for your journey.
Similar to Southern Vietnam, Laos experiences a tropical and subtropical climate with two distinct seasons:

Dry Season (October to April): The average temperature ranges from 21°C in November and February to 25°C in October and March. However, between mid-March and late April, temperatures can rise to 40°C in the plains.

Rainy Season (May to September): This period is marked by warm and humid monsoons, which start in the south and gradually move northward. Traveling in Laos can be challenging during these months, as temperatures in Vientiane can reach up to 30°C, with rainfall close to 300 mm. For a more enjoyable trip, the northern regions of Laos are better to visit during the rainy season.
The ideal time to visit Laos is between October and March, specifically in October, November, February, and March. During this period, the temperature is around 25°C, the sky is clear, and, most importantly, it coincides with many of Laos’ vibrant festivals!
