Early in the morning, visit Cai Rang floating market by boat on the river. The local people's knowledge will lead you to discover their lives and give you a close-up look at the lively traditional activities. Depart from Can Tho to Chau Doc. Hotel accommodation. Then, take a sampan trip to visit the Tra Su melaleuca forest. Overnight at the hotel.
The speedboat departs Chau Doc at 7:30 AM, and after an hour and a half, it reaches the border between Vietnam and Cambodia. There, disembark and process the Cambodia visa. Return to the boat and, after about 3.5 hours, arrive in Phnom Penh along the banks of the Tonlé Sap River, in the heart of the city. Upon disembarking, the Cambodian guide will meet you and transfer you to the hotel. The first visit in the afternoon includes the National Museum and the Royal Palace, composed of a set of Khmer-style pavilions and palaces surrounded by beautiful gardens. Inside the complex is the Silver Pagoda, named for its floor consisting of 5,000 pieces of the precious metal. Most of the floor is covered to protect the deteriorated silver, which can only be seen in a small corner. A short distance away, visit Wat Phnom Temple, built atop a hill 27 meters high—the city's highest point—which requires a few steps to reach the summit. Return to the hotel and stay overnight.
After breakfast, transfer to visit the Choeung Ek Memorial (Killing Field) and Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, a former high school converted into a large prison under the Khmer Rouge regime, known as "S21," where thousands of prisoners were detained, tortured, and killed. Walk through Tuol Tumpoung Market (also called Russian Market), an ideal place to buy antiques and fabrics.
Next, visit the Central Market. Take a cruise on the Chaktomuk River to admire the sunset. Overnight at the hotel.
Morning departure to Siem Reap without a guide in a private car. Upon arrival in Siem Reap, visit Kompong Phluk, about 16 km from Siem Reap. This village is built in the floodplain of Tonle Sap Lake. During the rainy season, you can see the 10-meter poles on which houses are constructed. In this season, people can only leave their homes by boat or swimming. Return to Siem Reap.
