Your tour begins with a visit to the Grand Palace, founded in 1782. This impressive complex houses not only the royal halls and throne rooms but also numerous government offices and the renowned Temple of the Emerald Buddha.
Next, you will visit Wat Pho, one of Bangkok’s most famous Buddhist temples. More than just a place of worship, it is an important center for Thai medicine, history, and education.
The final stop is Wat Traimit, located near Bangkok’s Chinatown. This temple is famous for housing the Golden Buddha, a stunning statue made entirely of solid gold.
Important Notes:
At midday, your guide will pick you up from the hotel for lunch before heading to the Amphawa Floating Market, one of Thailand’s oldest and most popular floating markets. Here, you can browse a variety of stalls selling fresh seafood, traditional Thai sweets, and unique souvenirs.
Enjoy a boat ride along the Amphawa Canal, where you can admire scenic views and experience the traditional riverside lifestyle. In the evening, you may choose to take a magical boat trip to witness fireflies glowing in the cork trees, creating a mesmerizing night scene.
During your boat tour, a stop at Wat Ban Kung is a must. This historic Ayutthaya-era temple is famous for being entirely engulfed by the roots and branches of a banyan tree, making it one of the most iconic landmarks in Amphawa. Inside, it houses a revered golden Buddha statue.
Return to Bangkok in the late afternoon, arriving at your hotel around 5:30 PM.
Upon arrival at Chiang Rai Airport, meet your local guide and begin your exploration of Thailand’s northernmost province.
Start your journey at the Golden Triangle, where the borders of Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos converge. Here, visit Wat Phra That Pu Khao, a temple offering breathtaking views of the Mekong River and the surrounding misty mountains. At the base of its staircase, two magnificent multi-headed Naga serpents stand as guardians of the temple.
Continue your visit to the Opium Museum, which provides a deep insight into the history of the region’s infamous opium trade.
In the afternoon, return to Chiang Rai and board a long-tail boat for a scenic cruise along the Kok River to Ruam Mitr Village, home to the Karen and Lahu ethnic minorities. The Karen village of Ruam Mitr is particularly known for its elephant-handling traditions, preserving its rich cultural heritage.

Overnight in Chiang Rai.
After breakfast at the hotel, meet your guide and depart for another scenic and culturally rich day of exploration.
Start with a visit to Doi Tung, home to the Mae Fah Luang Gardens and the Royal Mother’s Teakwood Villa. The gardens showcase an impressive variety of flowers and plants from all over Thailand, making it one of the most beautiful botanical attractions in the region.
Continue to Doi Mae Salong, a town that feels more like southern China than Thailand. Founded in the 1960s by Yunnanese settlers, this unique town was established by remnants of the Kuomintang (KMT) army, who fled Yunnan after Mao Zedong’s victory in the Chinese Civil War. Today, it is known for its tea plantations, Yunnanese culture, and traditional Chinese-style villages.
The day concludes in Tathon, a charming riverside town where you will spend the night. Situated on the banks of the Kok River, Tathon lies at the point where the river emerges from the Shan Hills of Myanmar into Thailand.
A highlight of Tathon is Wat Tha Ton, a hilltop temple offering breathtaking panoramic views over the Kok Valley, with the Burmese border visible in the distance.
Overnight in Tathon.
After breakfast, depart for Pai, with several exciting stops along the way.
The first stop is in Chiang Dao, where you will visit the Chiang Dao Cave complex. A short climb leads to the cave entrance, followed by a descent into a vast chamber filled with Buddha statues and sacred relics. You can explore two illuminated caves: Tham Seua Dao (540m) and Tham Phra Nawn (360m)
Both caves house Buddhist shrines and sculptures, creating a mystical underground atmosphere.
Continue to Pong Duet Geyser, a natural hot spring that erupts with boiling water up to 4 meters high throughout the year. This area also offers thermal baths, allowing visitors to relax in soothing mineral-rich waters.
As you approach Pai, stop at two iconic sites: Pai Historic Bridge - a WWII-era bridge built by the Japanese Army and Pai Canyon - a stunning natural sandstone formation offering panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and jungle.
Arrive at your hotel in Pai around 6:00 PM. The evening is at leisure to explore this laid-back mountain town, known for its charming cafés, night markets, and artistic community.
Overnight in Pai.

Along the way, we will stop at Lod Caves. Tham Lod is a cave system stretching 1,666 meters, featuring geological formations that rise from the floor and descend from the ceiling, creating massive limestone columns adorned with stalactites and stalagmites. The cave’s most distinctive feature is a freshwater stream that flows through its center for approximately 200-300 meters.
